Life

Man oh man….it’s amazing how hard you think something is until you go to the next step, and find that it gets even harder!! Even when you didn’t think it could!! Now, I’m generalizing about several things going on in my life, but it’s just something I come across pretty much on a day to day basis.  But, then there are also things that you learn to just keep trucking through, and just when you think you can’t go any further, something uplifting happens, someone is there to hold your hand or push you through and you find yourself making it through it.  And it is then that you look back and realize that if you made it though that, then you could make it through anything!  Life is so amazing and I am amazed more and more every single day!

The bible tells us that God will not give us more than we can handle….I just wish He didn’t trust me so much!!

School is definitely getting tougher, but this is what I should have expected.  First round of exams weren’t up to my standards and I just keep trying to study study study and do my best.  There are days when I am totally exhausted, but I have to keep getting up the next day and go at it!  I pray a lot and ask for help a lot.  And I ask for others to keep praying as well!! I need all the help I can get and it’s going to take a lot of work and even a lot more prayer to get through these next three years of grad school!!  Well, anyway, my next round of exams start this Monday (again) and I have 2 weeks of 6 exams and 1 paper due.  SO, if everyone could pray that I make it through these next couple of weeks, that would be great!! Thank you!!

Well, that’s really all I wanted to say.  I was just having one of those nights where I was thinking a lot about things and just wanted to write something and send it out there into cyberspace!  For those of you reading this, “May the Lord bless you and keep you under His wing of protection and shine a ray of light upon your face.  May you have courage and wisdom to know what to do next and may He light your path and show you where to take your next step.  And if the path is not so clear, my you feel Him take your hand in His and lead you down the path you should be taking. I pray you have faith that God will always be there for you in every time of need and in every prayer.  May you always feel His presence.  May He send His angels concerning you to watch over your day and keep you safe. In His holy and precious name, amen.”

First Anatomy Exam

Okay, so I need to gather everyone I can to pray for me this coming week!  I have my first anatomy exam on Monday (9/15/2008).  It’s the written part of the exam and then I have the Lab portion on Thursday (9/18/2008).  So please pray for me!! I’ve be studying like CRAZY but when I finally feel like I accomplished something and learned something, I always open up my notes to find so much more to learn and study – it’s never ending!! SO, I just wanted to create a post asking for prayers!! Also, if everyone could please pray for Jon, this coming Monday and Tuesday also.  It looks like he might be taking another trip to our nation’s capital – Washington D.C.  So, I will be very worried about him then!  But I’m also excited for him, very proud of him, and everything that he has done with his work. 

Well, I need to get back to studying, but I just thought I’d fill everyone in on everything!!!   Oh, one more things (more like a P.S.).  Just wanted to mention that my parents got 4 more foster kids a few weeks ago.  Three girls and one boy (plus they still have Jarradeth!!)  You can imagine how busy they are!   The other three girls (Brianna, Paig, and Piper went back home awhile ago to live with their dad.)  I’ve seen pictures of the new kids and they are absolutely adorable!!

God is Good!!

So, it’s getting late but I wanted to post a quick Blog in here for all my readers!! (Total sarcasm there!) haha  BUT….I got in to PT school!! I got called off of the waiting list just a mere three weeks before school was supposed to start!! SO…I got all my info turned in, signed, deposit put in, and  got all my books ordered!! And guess what?? I made it through my first week!! (Well, the first week was only three days, but I’m still counting it!!) Haha, anyway, I’m so excited and thanking God for answering my prayers!!  I am truly blessed in so many ways!   I’ll try and keep things posted as my journey through PT grad school begins and the University of Dayton!!

So This Is How Things Are Going Now

Well, I know I haven’t done the greatest job on my blog, but I’m still gonna keep trying!! I wanted to write another blog to update everyone on what is going on in the life of Rachel!!  To start, Jon has now been working at LJB Inc. for about 4 months and he really seems to like it.  His coworkers are great and he gets so excited when he tells me about the different projects that he is working on.  As far as my life goes, I am currently enrolled at Sinclair Community College in Dayton taking a Human Anatomy and Physiology class.  I am about 4 weeks into a 10 week course.  I am taking this class to try and help my GPA out for grad school and to show that I can get an A in A&P!! haha  I got an A on my first lecture exam and an A on my first lab exam…so, so far so good!!  We’ll see how the rest of them go though!!  In addition to taking my class in the evenings, I am also currently employed at Elmcroft Assisted Living and Alzheimer’s Care.  I am an RA (Resident Assistant/Caregiver).  I help/assist resident with their activities of daily living (ADL’s).  So, basically I help residents with dressing, bathing, toileting, eating, and anything else they need assistance with!! 

   So that’s what is going on right now with me!! My brain is about fried right now and I keep praying for patience.  I keep wondering when I will actually get into grad school…when will my undergrad and all my hard work actually pay off?  It’s so hard when all of your friends that you graduate with from Purdue all got accepted into the schools that they wanted to get in to and I am still waiting.  I already got behind a year with switching and going back up to Purdue, and now I might be another year behind with starting graduate school.  I just had to go and pick a major that required more schooling!! But, with that said, I KNOW that this is what I am supposed to be doing with my life and I am so excited about it! I can’t wait to get into school and start learning about all the things that will help me be the best physical therapist that I can be! I can’t wait to get my degree and start helping people in rehabilitation. 

 

A New Life!

Well, Jon and I are finally settling down in our new home.  We have moved to Kettering, OH (right next to Dayton) and it’s starting to feel like home!  Jon has started his job and loves it.  I recently found out that I did not make the first cut into PT at the University of Dayton and have been put on a waiting list.  I did meet witht he director of the PT program there this last week and he gave me pointers as to how to make my application for next year stronger.  So I will certainly take his advice and go for it!  I am also still looking for a job as a PT tech and hopefully I can find a job here soon.  It’s just not me to be sitting around all day with nothing to do! Most people would probably LOVE to have a day off here and there, but trust me….it gets boring!!  Especially when you haven’t made any friends yet and don’t know anyone here in the area.  But hopefully that will change here soon! Jon and I have a breakfast date with a family tomorrow morning at Cracker Barrel.  I’m so excited!  It is a family with two children.  I can’t wait to meet them. 

 My passport came in the mail today-that’s exciting!  My picture isn’t the greatest, but that’s because I was told I couldn’t smile in my picture.  What sort of picture is that without me smiling, really???  But nonetheless…I have my NEW passport with me NEW name on it!

 Well, I am going to get going here because my honey just made some homemade salsa and I am going to go try it out!  Hopefully I will be blogging some more here real soon!

The Start Of My Blog

Hello everyone! My name is Rachel Marie Vetor (soon to be Rachel Marie Burnett in less than two months!).  A friend of mine has a blog through wordpress, and I thought it was a neat way of letting everyone know what is going on in your life.  I’m going through a lot of emotions right now in my life and I really feel (and hope) that maybe this blog will help me to focus on something positive and also to let my family and friends know what is going on in my life!  This isn’t going to be a huge post today (I am in the middle of classes) but I did want to put something down and let the world know that I have started my blog!
